U10 Whites Vs Monk Fryston A lovely morning and great pitch at Methley Primary School was the perfect setting for some amazing football. Methley started the game quickly, passing, pressing, playing with intensity at a relentless pace for the full match. Giving their opponents no time to settle and moving them around the pitch passing the ball quickly and decisively. Goals from Isaac 3, Leyton 2, Louie and Dylan.Player of the match went to Dylan who was all over the pitch, leading the team from start to finish while picking up a great long range goal and 2 assists. ... So today our u16 reds made the trip to Riccall for the semi final of the u16 trophy. This is a ground we have never won on… however we went there in a positive state of mind that we could get a result… game kicked off and for 15 minutes Riccall applied lots of pressure but the reds held firm… we managed to get an opportunity to grab a goal against the run of play but the keeper saved it.. this seemed to give the lads some confidence.. within a few mins some great football involving zach wood and Oliver Harvey put some pressure on their defence and Harry Holmes opened the scoring 0-1 to MUAFC.. chests were pumped, we felt a million dollars.. let’s push on… riccall pushed and had some god chances.. however wasn’t long before more excellent work allowed Harry to grab his second.. 2-0 after 30 mins… blimey wasn’t expecting that!! Chests got pumped even bigger… boys we can do this.. we then had a sustained spell of pressure and lo and behold Harry H came up with goods again… whhhhaaaattt 3-0 at half time.. unbelievable scenes - away crowd going crazy!! Coaches at half time didn’t have much to do.. same again please… second half MUAFC remained solid, Alex Lally, Dan Kay, Alfie Land and Jack Ellis were unbelievable in defence.. rock solid.. our midfielders managed the game.. Logan cooper, Oli Harvey, zach wood, Josh thorley, Oli Paul and Trav birch were literally phenomenal… game management meant we did not concede thanks to Zack Newton in goal (who was amazing today). Jack Taylor and Harry Holmes worked tirelessly up front… what a win 3-0… now onto the final to try and retain our trophy no one gave us a chance of winning.. coaches Glen and Dean are so very proud.. what a group of young men who are an absolute credit to their parents and themselves.. #upthereds ... FINAL GAME OF THE LEAGUE SEASON FOR THE SEAHAWKS!!!well what can we say about these girls and this season.Firstly it's been a honour to coach these wonderful girls!! Had such a blast from day 1, to watch them grow over a season is truly amazing!!!!!We would like to mention Imogen who played in the net for the Seahawks before leaving to persuit dancing. She was truly amazing being our goalkeeper.. even when she got a few knocks she got back up and carried on!Ellodie - one half of the bash sisters!!! Throughout the season has been a strong defender and winning most of her battles and stopping alot of goals with last ditch tackles! Truly amazing to see! Also Ellodie been showing great signs of leadership throughout the season which can only get better throughout the age groups!.Skyla - the other bash sister!!! Has been on a wonderful journey though the season starting off as a winger she naturally found her position at the back alongside Ellodie. Skyla showed great determination and calmness and the ability to change the game by going forward. It's been wonderful to watch all season!Ruby P - her wonderful personality is her superpower.. she's the superglue within the team. Always turns up with her great attitude and talks and encourages everyone. Her football ability has come a long way aswell mainly her eye for a pass! Ruby's dribbling and ball control is wonderful to watch especially when she's trying to get the team up the field.Heidi - a little superstar! no matter the weather is, she always comes with a smile! Heidi has spent the second half of the season in net and she gives everything and has no fear! Always diving on the ball wether there's alot of players around her or not!Lexi - overall is a fantastic little footballer, she works her socks off every weekend for the Seahawks. The way she handles her self on the pitch is a joy to watch! Her aggression to win the ball back or to run past opposition players is where she truly shines! Mollie - super striker Mollie is a fantastic player to have upfront her ability to get past a player and fire rockets into the oppositions net has been a joy to watch all season! We would like to point out Mollie's spirit and fight this second half of the season has been great to see!!! Ruby W - recently joined us for the last few games but she has fitted into the team lovely and feels like we've had her all season! We can all see ruby is a great footballer and are looking forward to working with her next season!!! Finally we want to say thank you to all the parents, grandparents & friends for coming to support our girls every week! It's truly appreciated from us all! thank you Seahawks for a wonderful season!! You all are truly amazing!! Now onto our next challenge - the gala's in June!!! ... See MoreSee Less

The newly formed Methley Rebels continued their development with a great battle with Ossett. The first two quarters against a tough team was unbelievably tight with both teams giving it 100%.The game opened up in the 2nd half and some great team goals followed, Flo finished a great team goal, with Nancy making a wonderful break, picking out Iris who crossed brilliantly for Flo to finish off Grins all round for the rebels who suddenly really came to life and what followed was 2 quarters of magic Bella rifled 2 more home, one lovely solo effort and the second started with Iris picking a pass to Flo who pinged the ball back into a charging Bella who was never going to miss from there “Its like watching Brazil” Coach Phil was quoted as saying In the break I asked Iris if she had a goal for herself in her today and she promptly delivered - showing a really calm head under pressure Another fine effort from Nancy with a tidy finish and even better celebration. Ossett kept coming themselves, shoutout to our defenders who never stopped working, Effie, Daisy, Amelie and Liliana giving everything for the RebelsAll the girls had to work super hard in defending against a swarming Ossett town and had to dig us out of trouble on multiple occasions 🏆 Parents Award went to Florence🏆 Oppositions Award went to Bella 🏆 Coaches awards went to Amelie and Iris Excellent “whole team performance” Dave Beane said after and I completely agree Looking forward to seeing these girls in league action next season! ... Methley u13s 2-1 Thackley u13s - Lions roar to the Championship ❤️⚽️❤️Match report from u13s player Becca 👍Methley U13s girls were fired up in today's game at Thackley, a match that could send them up as champions. The girls had a nervous start, and Thackley settled first and scored a goal from the side of the box. However, the girls did not let their heads drop and and they soon settled into the game too. Before half-time Kadie scored a stunner from outside the area, which quickly motivated the team.In the second half, Methley's domination continued and Ava-Beau put the girls ahead with a great half volley. Though 1 goal down, Thackley put lots of pressure on the Methley back line, but the defence stayed strong and the game finished 2-1 sending Methley up to Division 2 as Champions! The pics include everyone except Ailie, she missed the game as she was having trials for the England Lionesses ❤️⚽️❤️ ... ⚽️ **Methley United Lionesses vs West End - U9 Girls WRCFA Cup Semi-Final** ⚽In a thrilling semi-final, the brave Methley Lionesses pushed West End all the way. Methley opened strong, with Emma assisting Lola for our first goal. Midfielders Lola, Gabs, and Emma excelled, creating chances for the dangerous Chloe. Our defence was solid, led by the formidable Annie and keeper Freya. Rose and Ella came on and were superb. Kudos to Ellie for brilliantly marking the league's top player!Methley led at half-time but faced pressure in the second half. Despite great saves from Freya, West End equalised and later scored a winner. The team’s spirit was absolutely amazing and despite the final whistle tears, with outstanding performances across the pitch.Congratulations to West End. League Cup Semi - FinalU13s vs Ackworth (A)Our u13s boys travelled to Ackworth today in the league cup semi-final, in good spirits albeit facing a decent Ackworth team a league above. Having won 10 from the last 12 games, we were sure to give the home side a good game! And that's what happened.... we played with our usual high pressing, high intensive football, playing the ball about and within the first 5-10 mins, we found ourselves 2 nil up! Cash through 1vs1 and slotted it home for the first goal and Oscar scoring a spot kick. We broke again down the right hand side and a lovely cross saw Cash side foot it home again. Again, 5 mins from half time, Cash was through, and it was an inevitable outcome, 4 nil. Nobody catches the gazelle! We gave away a cheap free kick a minute or 2 before the half time break, where Ackworth deservedly pulled one back. Half time we told the lads to keep doing what they're doing, we knew they would come out fighting in the 2nd half and that's exactly what they did. Pressure from the off, but our defence were resilient along with some good saves from Paddy in goal. After all this pressure, we broke away down the left, Spencer only goes and chips keeper, 5-1. Brilliant counter attacking football. Ackworth pulled another goal back to make it 5-2, and the game was methleys. As coach, we cannot put in to words of how proud we are this season of the boys, they've now all gelled and fight for one another on the pitch. Team work makes the dream work. On to the final, date to be confirmed, against Bentley who are division 1 champions. We've nothing to lose, but everything to gain! Well done boys, proud coaches today.#upthereds ... See MoreSee Less

The U7 blackhawks played away at local rivals Rothwell this morning in the bright spring sunshine. The girls started like a hurricane and pressed and harried there opponents and were able to take advantage as Maya ran the game for a devastating 5 minute spell.Blackhawks remained on top for the first quarter and utilised there growing confidence with passing. The intensity then dropped as the girls tired in the sun and there opponents came back into the game just before half time.Isla and Eadie then upped the intensity with a high energy display in the 3rd quarter that put the blackhawks back on top in the game. The rest of the team were inspired by this and all started to press high up the pitch and they all finished the game strongly. The girls tried really hard to implement there improving passing and we're able to do so resulting in some brilliant moves.Opponents player: MayaParents player: IslaGoalscorers: Maya, Eliza, Isla, AlexCaptain: HalleAnother great display from the girls that was full of hard work and most importantly smiles!Go Blackhawks ... 🔵 Malt Shovel U11s - Methley United Blues u10s 🔴A great Semi Final away to Malt Shovel of Selby.Special shout out to the referee who kept the game flowing with entertainment and the boys loved him.Oscar continued to play as our sweeper keeper and made some phenomenal saves as well as continued to play calmly, closer to the halfway line.Harley continued to show his strength and dominance at the back, encouraging to see him continuing to play football from the back and learning the game more every week.Great to see Gabe make some dominating tackles and handle their number 7. Getting fitter, faster and stronger every week 💪Dion continues to be Mr reliable where when defending only 2 things will happen, he will win the ball or win the man. Love it! Once on the ball his calmness and discipline is unmatched.Ted's first semi final with Methley and we asked him to work hard off the ball, getting into the RB position when defending. Improves every week and has a phenomenal touch. Great to see him get a goal.Ian continues to pinch a goal in the tight games and today was no exception. His positioning and quality with the ball unlocked some great chances.Great performance from Max who continued to make the forward runs and drive the team up the pitch. 3 assists where he won the ball back deep in their box. Was on the end of some tough challenges but bounced back up and showed a great positive attitude.Jesse continued to be a threat to their defence, making them go in positions they didn't want to. Deserved a goal today for his hard work, he continues to improve every week.Bailey... Is Bailey... Played more a central role as I know we can rely on him. He showed his strength and maturity throughout the game and won most of his battles.TJ is another Mr Reliable who had an exceptional performance off the ball. Without doubt worked the hardest off the ball, tracking back into the LB position and then later in the RB to stop their threat. Superstar in the making and deserved to be on the winning team.Player of the match today was Alfie, lots of quality balls into the box and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.Ted ⚽OG ⚽Ian ⚽ Bailey⚽Max ⚽TJ ⚽ ... Morning allBusy day of football action, very excited for all our teams playing in important cup and league games this morning. We have 4 games at Church Lane (3 early KO’s and 1 late KO), 1 at the cricket field, 1 at Methley school and 1 at Sav Park this morning so please do pop down to any of the venues if you are free to support the girls and boys 😀⚽️👍Please can I ask, where possible if they can walk, bike and scooter to the home games please to reduce the volume of cars on site. If you do bring your car please park considerately and park next to neighbouring cars to avoid big gaps. I was just looking through the fixtures for the games and there are some really exciting fixtures whether this in the competitive leagues (u12s and above) or cup games from the young guns to the older junior teams.Firstly our u8s Blacks and Reds are in cup action, the Blacks away at local opposition Kippax and the Reds at home at Methley cricket pitch (10:30 ko).Our u9s Lionesses host West End Terriers at Church Lane (9:30ko) in their cup semi final whilst our u9s Pumas travel to NEL (9:30ko) as they both look to the finals next week. Our 3 x u11s boys teams all have semi final cup games to look forward to, our u11s whites have been drawn at home against Howden (9:30ko), whilst the u11s Reds travel to Pontefract Cold and the u11s Blues take a trip over to Malt Shovel in what should be 3 fantastic games. In the u13s, our boys team take a short trip to Ackworth in their cup semi final whilst the u13s girls travel to Thackley with a win enough to secure them the league title. In the older age groups, our u16s Reds travel to Riccall for their semi final cup game whilst our u16s whites host Garforth Villa at Savile Park where they look to extend their lead at the top with just 4 league games to go.Lots of other games being played at home and away today, enjoy the games, show respect and let’s represent our village with great pride. Please let’s shout about our successes on social media, win, lose or draw. Please let’s highlight all the positives we have seen as it’s an amazing way of getting our clubs name out far and wide ❤️⚽️❤️Good luck and enjoy CP ... See MoreSee Less

⚽️ U12 Reds 🔴 played a catch up game v Monk Fryston Diamonds yesterday. The positivity and momentum stayed with the boys from their brilliant win at the weekend! In the first half, Raf kicked things off with a brilliant goal. Ollie kept firing the ball at their goal but it wasn’t meant to be, it’s coming though! Keep it up! 💪🏻MFD equalised, followed by our Charlie O scoring a cracking goal. We finished for half time 2-1 up. In the second half Oscar got his first goal of the game. MFD kept trying to equalise again but keeper James had no fear and dived at their feet to keep the ball from going in. Oscar scores again, making it 4-1. Oscar is only 1 goal away from the big 5️⃣0️⃣ this season‼️ We finished the game off with a distance shot from Theo, over the keeper and in the net making the final score 5-1. This game’s MOTM went to Josh 🏆 for brilliant play and keeping their best player in check! Well done boys! We go again on Saturday v Goole!! ⚽️ ... See MoreSee Less

🚨Crazy stats from 2023/24 season so far🚨Just wanted to drop you all a note with some quick stats from this season, it’s been wet, it’s been a challenge but we have provided the most football matches ever at Methley United.Over the course of this season we have run249 - 5-a-side matches 272 - 7-a-side matches131 - 9-a-side matches238 - 11-a-side matchesSo a whopping 890 games played out so far across our junior teams. We have facilitated 450 home games this season at our home pitches plus 32 extra (games which were reversed). We project there will be growth in our club for the next 4-5 years before we reach our peak and then numbers will stabilise (once we have all age groups throughout the girls teams). We are already looking at securing more new pitches for next season and beyond locally to ensure we have enough pitches and equally as important, fantastic quality pitches for our players to play on week in, week out 👍What a challenge this year has been but what an achievement this season has been, to get through our toughest ever season with pitches still in good condition and teams completing their league/cup fixtures. We should all be very proud - our coaching team and committee are all heroes in playing your part in protecting our pitches and supporting decisions made throughout the season. We are something different, well done and thank you allChris ... ⚽️ U12 Reds 🔴 played Askern Miners again this weekend and wow what a game it was 💥 we started the game strong and kept it up through the full game. In the first half Oscar got 4 goals, one by heading it in! Raf assisted every goal, well done boys! Then in the second half, our captain Kayden took a corner and it went straight in the goal! What a goal it was!! Next up, Oscar and Nathan took it in turns to score. Nathan getting 2 and Oscar getting another 3, securing his spot on the leader board. Resulting in a 10-0 win!! This week's MOTM was difficult as the coaches thought every player deserved it, but final decision was Charlie O 🏆 for great passing and moves down the wing! A brilliant game even when the heavens opened 🌧️ and very different to the last time we played AM! Well done boys. Let’s keep this up for the catch up match on Wednesday ⚽️ ... See MoreSee Less

***Methley Reds U7s***What a fantastic first season for all the coaches and more importantly the u7 Reds boys.Archie, Ben, Finley, Harry, H, Joshua, Milo, Oliver & Toby have proved every week they can keep coming back and developing time and time again. The first part of the season saw us lose heavily against teams that had been developed together a lot longer than our boys had. Even as coaches we have had to learn on the bounce and through our personal development we have got better for the boys. The second part of the season saw one of our boys struck down with illness. Oliver suffered with pneumonia and was sidelined for several weeks. Josh joined the team and quickly learnt to get stuck in on the tackles. Toby took a massive knock to his confidence but has bounced back and is stronger and faster and now has the confidence to run with the ball and strike it well at goal. Finley has continued to grow into football life, great tackles and stepped up putting a fantastic performance in goal for the final match. Ben & H have been brilliant in their development in goal with the help of Scott, both have made a great impact in matches as the season has progressed both in and out of goal. Little Harry has progressed well In tackling and attacking scoring some good goals for us over the season. Milo & Josh have developed into strong tacklers and become key to the team’s strong defence and moving the team into attacking play. Oliver has come back from illness and with a new zest for football has made a key attacking partnership with Archie working well together to set up and score plenty of goals together in the second half of the season. Archie has had his shooting boots on all season and has scored some fantastic goals any number 9 would be proud of. We look forward to next season after a summer of galas, friendlies and even some beach soccer. It’s been a great induction into grassroots football as coaches and seeing the development and enjoyment in the team. The coaching team look forward to 2024/25 in the u8’s #upthemethleyredsu7’s ...
